After receiving a dementia diagnosis how long will my loved one require memory care at Colonial Gardens?
Alzheimer’s dementia is a lifetime diagnosis. Most residents can do well with part-time in-home care (often provided by a family member or home health care providers) for a period of time ranging from a few months to a few years following initial diagnosis.
However, because Alzheimer’s is a degenerative disease, your loved one’s needs will continue to increase over time, making full-time care in a memory care facility, such as Cardinal Court, a necessity. This care can range from 2.5 years to up to 10 years depending on your loved one’s overall health and wellness in addition to the progression of their disease.
