Fun Summer Activities From a Mason Assisted Living Facility in Ohio
From Ice Cream Socials to Crafts, Central Parke Offers Awesome Summer Activities For Seniors
The weather is warming up and summer is almost in full swing– that means it’s time for fun summer activities! At our assisted living and memory care retirement home in Mason, Ohio, we fill the calendar with plenty of engaging activities and programs, making sure that there’s always something to do! These activities are a great way to create new friendships, find new hobbies and live summer to the fullest. Your loved one will want to be sure to leave some space in their schedule in case they find an activity they don’t want to miss! Here are a few summer activities that Central Parke has to offer:
Ice cream socials, cookouts, and mixers
Enjoy the outdoors with a yummy cookout, or cool off from the heat at an ice cream social. How fun does that sound? Our Life Enrichment Director is dedicated to constantly planning fun social events for residents to enjoy each other’s company and make memories. These events and mixers are also a great way to forge new friendships.
Warm weather makes spending time outside more enjoyable. Our secure outdoor trails are perfect for soaking up the sun and getting some exercise while you’re at it! To make it better, residents can join a walking club, or grab a few friends or invite family to explore the grounds and take a look at the beautiful gardens with them. Getting sunshine and exercising can boost mood, improve sleep and help increase focus.
On a hot or rainy summer day, a movie or movie marathon can be a great way to relax indoors. Residents can help pick out a movie or give their suggestions, and we’ll complete the occasion with a mix of healthy snacks and popcorn! Even when it’s not rainy, we offer a fun ‘movie and manicures’ activity every Saturday.
Playing games with friends can be one of the best ways to spend a summer day. Whether you enjoy sports, strategic games, or games of luck, we have something for everyone. You can find residents playing cards, chess, checkers, Rummikub, Scrabble, bingo, and more. Outdoor games such as courtyard ball toss, horseshoes, and corn hole are also offered to allow you to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. Participating in games is a great way to meet new people who have similar interests, and is a great mood-booster!
Arts & Crafts
Whether you’re an artist or are looking for a relaxing new hobby, Central Parke offers opportunities for residents to practice their artistic skills. From painting lessons to leaf pressing and stained glass, our community fosters creativity through arts and crafts. Not only will residents be able to make art they can cherish and display, but it’s also an awesome way to promote brain health and encourage imagination. Residents can mingle and enjoy these peaceful activities indoors or outdoors!
These are just a few of the many awesome activities and programs that our Mason assisted living and memory care facility has to offer this summer. Residents can choose as many activities as they’d like, and they won’t have to look far if they want a fun-filled day this summer! But we also make sure to properly prepare for the summer and outdoor activities they may want to partake in. We ensure they wear proper clothing and sunscreen, stay hydrated, and avoid extended periods of time in the sun.
