A Day Out with the Kids in Austin, TX

Your list of things to do with the kids may be running short, but the kids have a running brook of energy and imagination. There are many things to do around the house with kids, but what about getting out and enjoying the city of Austin? There are some amazing things to do and see in the city, especially for families with children. In search of low key, high-energy or old- fashioned family fun? Austin doesn’t disappoint.

Here are a few fun things to do in Austin with kids:

  • Barton Springs Pool – this is an extremely fun spot during the summer months. Barton Springs is an extremely popular place for kids of all ages. The cool water is a nice break from scorching Texas temperatures. There is also a 3-acre pools with a large shallow section and there is also a designated area for floats.

  • Zilker Zephyr Miniature Train – fun, fun, and more fun for the kiddos and adults alike on this choo choo! It’s a half-hour ride that tours through Zilker Park and around Lady Bird Lake via the mini-train. The views are great and it’s a great way to take a break off your feet.

  • The Thinkery Children’s Museum – Entice their brains while keeping them entertained is the goal at this fun and exciting museum. Kids can learn about fluid dynamics (and get wet) in the Currents exhibit while tinkering with water walls and fountains. The Inventor’s Workshop invites kids to create by offering hands-on workstations for everything from woodworking to electronics.

  • Jumpoline Park – if your kids have a ton of energy to burn, this is the place to bring them. The location features several rooms with wall-to-wall trampolines. The indoor park has a dodgeball area, a bouncy basketball court and a freestyle section for the acrobats in the family.
