RENO, NEVADA (SEPTEMBER 27th, 2019) – Sunshine Retirement Living welcomes Timothy “Tim” Grafton as the new Executive Director of its Stone Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Reno, Nevada. Grafton has been working in the Senior Living industry since he moved to Reno in 1998.
Grafton completed his B.A. in Psychology at California State University, Fresno. After graduating, he began his career working with children who have developmental disabilities. He soon found that he had a passion for helping the children soar to new levels through individualized care. During this time, Tim was able to work closely with the children’s parents, and he enjoyed showing the parents what opportunities could become available for their children with the right assistance.
He eventually moved to Reno, Nevada in 1998 and began working in the Senior Living industry. Grafton worked to create a setting in which individuals were able to advance beyond what even their grown children anticipated. In the setting cultivated by Grafton, residents gained further independence and opened up doors to new possibilities in their lives.
Grafton’s experience aligns with Stone Valley’s mission of providing Person-centered care that fosters independence over-dependence. The community provides an extensive Memory Care Life Enrichment Program that encompasses the six “Sunshine Pillars of Wellness”: physical, social, emotional, cognitive, sensory, and spiritual nurturing, which enable Stone Valley residents to live life to the fullest in a safe and secure environment. Stone Valley and Sunshine are confident that Grafton will execute that mission.
Grafton says that when he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and going on camping trips. He enjoys visiting amusement parks and attending his daughter’s volleyball tournaments and robotics competitions. Whether its summer or winter, you are likely to find him enjoying the outdoors by snow skiing, water skiing, venturing out on trail hikes with his two canine companions, or exploring the beautiful Reno/Tahoe area. Grafton says he learned firsthand that having one’s tonsils removed at age 40 is no fun, and that CrossFit is a whole lot tougher than he originally thought.
Sunshine Retirement Living and Stone Valley are excited to bring Grafton on board and utilize his talents and experience to improve residents’ lives.
