We think it is safe to say that there is something special about the colder months of the year. The air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and the holidays are approaching fast! This time of year the leaves are falling, stores are putting out seasonal displays, and most importantly, seasonal decor is everywhere! Here at our Sunshine Retirement Living Communities in South Carolina, we love helping our residents decorate for every season, but especially for fall and winter! Our team has put together a few great tips and tricks to help you and your loved ones decorate for the season in an easy and efficient way! Keep reading to learn more.
Start With Neutrals
One of our favorite tips when decorating for fall is to start with neutral tones that can easily transition into the winter months. Having a base of neutral tones that you can accent with colored throw pillows, blankets, and knick-knacks will not only keep you from having to buy completely new decor for each season, but will also save you time and energy in the long run. A great way to “start with a neutral base” is by utilizing black, white, gray, and other variations of solid neutral tones wherever you can. This technique is ideal for comforters, couches, chairs, and even wall color. For fall and holiday, we recommend adding accent pieces that capture the essence of the season! Burnt orange, burgundy, dark yellow, and dark greens are great choices for throw blankets and accent pillows that will compliment those neutral tones!
Incorporate Accent Pieces
Often, decorating for a season or holiday can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t need to be. Add subtle accent pieces into various parts of your living space to create a simple yet cohesive feeling. It is extremely easy to make for yourself or a loved one if you’re short on time in the morning. Simply heat up a nonstick pan, add your eggs, some spinach, and a little of your favorite seasoning (we love everything bagel seasoning)! Turn the eggs occasionally to cook them through, and you're ready to eat.
