As the weather starts to cool off, it can be easy to think that your opportunities to get outside and get active disappear. However, we are here to tell you otherwise! One of the many benefits of living at Dunwoody Pines Independent Retirement Community is the endless opportunity for adventure and activities. So, while the chance to spend as much time outside might decrease slightly, there is no shortage of things to keep your body and mind busy at and around our community this fall. Here are some of our favorites:

Join One Of Our Exercise Classes

One of the many benefits of living at one of the best independent retirement communities in Georgia is the extensive activities calendar that our team pus together every month for our residents. Included in these events are daily or weekly exercise opportunities and group classes. These exercise classes range from chair yoga and meditation to chair cardio, line dancing classes, traditional exercise classes, and so much more! Explore The Dunwoody Nature Center

With our beautiful residency located in Georgia, it means that temperatures are mild even well into the fall and winter months. This means that outdoor adventures are still possible well throughout most times of the year! One of our favorite activities to recommend in the Dunwoody area is the Dunwoody Nature Center. This wonderful park is free and open to the public from sunrise to sunset, year round. In addition to walking trails and recreation areas, you can also sign up for classes and events to learn about conservation, education, and motivating the local community to protect the local wildlife. This is a great place to get up and active while also learning about how to better the environment around you.

Get Walking By Shopping

While this one may not be one of those traditional activities you think of to get your body moving, shopping is actually a great way to incorporate some cardio into your day. Walking around a mall, shopping center, or even a large department store helps keep you moving while also keeping you away from the cold weather outside. With the holiday season fast approaching, this is one of our favorite ways to kill two birds with one stone. Shopping will get you up and active while also giving you the perfect opportunity to buy those holiday gifts for loved ones. Some of our favorite local shopping locations are, Dunwoody Village, Park Place, and a little further away, Perimeter Mall.

Create Your Own Workout With Friends

While our community offers incredible workout classes, sometimes it can be just as fun to workout on your own with friends. Our final activity to get you moving this fall is to create your own indoor exercise routine with a few fellow community members. A couple of great exercises that are accessible indoors are:

  • Resistance band exercises
  • Body weight exercises
  • Dumbbell exercises
  • Indoor walking
