There’s truly nothing like fall weather to get you outside and embrace nature. The balance between the sweltering heat of summer and the frigid winds of winter, autumn is easily the most outdoor-adventure friendly season. From pumpkin and apple picking to long hikes, and everything in between, there are endless outdoor activities.

At Juniper Glen Memory Care Assisted Living Buffalo, NY residents can enjoy afternoons in our beautiful landscaped gardens and take in the crisp, delightful fall weather on campus. Though sometimes taking a little trip is sorely needed. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite day trips for you and your loved one to take near our amazing community. Check out our list below!

Martin House

Anyone in the Buffalo area knows how impactful the architecture of Frank Llyod Wright is. With ten structures still standing of the world-renowned 20th century architect, it’s easy to plan an entire trip around seeing his instantly recognizable style. One of our favorite places to visit is Martin House, which is now a museum and event space. The estate was built between 1903 and 1905 and spans a 1.5 acre plot with multiple residences including a cottage, carriage house, and conservatory. Weaving nature into every piece of each residence, this amazing museum and event center is a must-see in the Buffalo area, and offers a full day of fun for the whole crew!

Eternal Flame Falls

For the adventurers of the group, we love a trip to Eternal Flame Falls. Located in Chestnut Ridge Park, these waterfalls are particularly unique as there is a natural gas seepage spot underneath the falls that will stay burning when lit! The sight is a little bit mystical and incredibly beautiful. We do give you fair warning, all of that natural gas does come with an unpleasant smell, so please use caution if you have a sensitive nose!

Old Fort Niagara

We can’t have a day trip list in the Buffalo area without mentioning the name of the most famous waterfall in the United States. However, we’re venturing to somewhere a little different. The Old Fort Niagara is a fun day trip for any history buff, or even someone who wants to take a trip a little outside of the box. Featuring historical reenactors, the fort offers an incredibly rich history to learn about, a self-guided tour on the off-months, and hourly musket demonstrations. Truly an exciting and unique experience for children of all ages, the fort is an absolute must-see!

Elmwood Village

Sometimes the best day trips are simply exploring a new part of the city. Elmwood Village is a neighborhood in Buffalo with beautiful architecture, fantastic restaurants, and small businesses that are great for perusing. Elmwood Strip is a particularly fun portion that is dedicated to commercial businesses like coffee shops, restaurants, salons, and more. So pack up the car and the family and take a little day trip to this adorable part of our amazing city.

With so many fun day trips in the Western New York area, there’s plenty to keep you occupied all autumn long! What better way to create lifelong memories than taking your loved ones to one of these awesome locales for a day? We can’t wait to hear about your adventures when you return!
