Fun Fall Decor for Our Senior Apartments in Oregon

Style your home with some autumnal decor this season!

With the weather cooling down and days getting shorter, it’s time to start cozying up your living spaces! Transitioning from summer to fall doesn’t have to be this terribly difficult task. Just a few small changes can create a more autumnal and snuggly experience in your home.

From our amazing Oregon senior retirement living communities, we’ve compiled a list of easy and fun ways to decorate your home for fall. From crafts to color palettes, we’ve got it all! Read on for our best autumnal decor tips!

Fall Color Palette

We love the classic colors of fall like tan, orange, deep yellow, and dark reds and think they can really bring warmth into a space. While it’s tough to completely revamp a space if the colors in your home don’t traditionally go with an autumn theme, there are definitely some color pairings that can bring that fall feeling straight into your home. If you have more cooler tones in your home like silver, blue, or purple, consider adding in an olive or forest green. While they can lean a little more wintry, it’s a good way to transition into the seasons. You can also mix in some gold or bronze accents for a metallic mix-in to help bring out that golden tone so many tree leaves take on throughout the fall. For homes with softer colors like pastel pink or creams, a deep burgundy or rich ochre can play off the pastels beautifully. Don’t be afraid to mix and match!

Natural Accents

One of our favorite ways to decorate for fall is by using nature as inspiration, or even directly as decor! Spend some time collecting acorns and pinecones in your backyard and place in a decorative bowl or dish on your coffee table. Consider adding a stick or two of cinnamon in the bowl for a bit of fall fragrance wafting through your living room. For those who are a little more adventurous, consider adding some festive gourds or dried flowers like thistle, statice, or yellow billy balls for a beautiful and elegant display.

Autumnal Wreaths

There’s nothing quite like a festive wreath on your door to welcome in guests. Fall is the perfect time to revamp your front door. We love this fall wreath tutorial from Southern Charm Wreaths. For those who want something a little more natural, we love the idea of picking out some freshly fallen leaves from your yard, preserving them, and then placing them on a wreath for a super simple, but gorgeous wreath. Martha Stewart offers some great leaf preservation tips here!

We can’t talk about fall decor without talking about one of the most beloved holidays. Halloween decor can really run the gamut, but we’re loving the very simple take on it that we’re seeing trending this year. With a small ghost shaped pillow, black and white throw blanket, and a couple of black or orange battery operated candles, you can transform your home into a sweet treat for the eyes this Halloween. If you and your loved one are up for a craft, we love the look of black construction paper bats flying in an arch like the ones found in this tutorial. It’s chic, but holiday forward, and offers a great chance to spend some quality time with your loved one.

Autumn decor doesn’t have to be complicated. No need for a fully transformed home. With just a few small changes, you can have a seasonally decorated home in no time!
