Fun Winter Activities From Our Luxury 55 Plus Communities In GA

Make the most of the chilly months with these fun ideas!

As the crisp fall air turns to chilly winter days and nights, there is still lots of fun to be had! Georgia isn’t known for heavy snowfall or intense winters, but it can be tricky to find ways to stay busy when the days are short and nights are dark. During the winter, the temptation to stay indoors rises, which can lead to feelings of loneliness. We have four beautiful Georgia retirement communities across the state, and we desire for our residents to look forward to fun adventures all year long. We know that experiencing life outside of their rooms or homes is where lasting memories are made. Here are some fun winter activities you or your loved one can enjoy in Georgia!

See Some Snow

While snowfall isn’t plentiful in Georgia, snowfall and ice storms can still be experienced. It can be a great adventure to take a day trip to find some of that bright white snow! A drive to Gainesville will provide opportunities for snow rides and play areas through the end of February. If you or your loved one are up to it, there is also snow tubing, ice rinks, and carnival rides. If snowfall is right outside your door, put on a warm coat and embrace the kid in you with some snow angels and snowman-making! If nothing else, taking just a few minutes to embrace the natural beauty can boost the mood. While it may take a bit of preparation to ensure you have the right clothing to stay warm, watching the serene and tranquil snowfall will be worth the effort.

Drink Something Warm and Cozy

It’s almost a given that as soon as those winter months hit, beverages like hot cocoa and steamy apple cider are a frequent occurrence. While it is relaxing to enjoy these cozy drinks at home, there are several wonderful spots around the state to elevate the whole experience! For instance, consider a trip to Condor Chocolates, an Ecuadorian chocolate shop and cafe, in the city of Athens. This cafe has truffles, espresso, hot chocolate, sipping chocolate, and other rich and delicious treats. For more details about Condor Chocolates, here is their website.

Indoor Adventures

If you or your loved one would like to stay inside and enjoy the warmth, there are still lots of fun winter activities! If you’re near Atlanta, two places that are worth a visit are the Georgia Aquarium and the High Museum of Art. The Georgia Aquarium showcases dozens of amazing aquatic species in the forms of shows, animal encounters, and even swim and dive experiences. The High Museum of Art, on the other hand, is known for connecting people across cultures with its collection, dynamic schedule of exhibitions, and community-focused programs. The museum offers art creation sessions, summer camp, toddler classes, and even yoga, among many other experiences. If staying indoors is more to your liking this winter, consider a trip to the aquarium or the museum this season!

At each of our Georgia retirement communities, it is important to us that you or your loved one has something meaningful to do, even if it’s cold outside. The seasons in Georgia are always amazing, but there’s nothing like the look of a fresh snowfall. We hope these fun winter activities are of use to you this season!
