Events to Enjoy Spring Near Our Greenville Retirement Community
Explore your creativity with these weekly activities this spring
Here at The Gardens at Brook Ridge Memory Care and Transitional Assisted Living, we encourage our residents to bring their creativity into their everyday routines. With various in-house activities and so much to do in our surrounding community, there is never-ending inspiration to get that inner creativity flowing. The next time you and your loved one feel the need to step into your creative shoes, try one of these activities and let your inner genius flourish:
Enjoy a Movie in our Resident Theater
One of the many amenities we offer at The Gardens at Brook Ridge is our movie theater for our residents. There is a little something for everyone, with different genres showcased every day. While every film genre has its own creative elements, for extra inspiration, try to catch a musical film! Music and music therapy are particularly supportive for memory care residents, whether listening to it or creating it. So we encourage our residents to let the music in the speakers and the art on the screen evoke their creativity.
Soak Up The Spring Sunshine
Getting outside is proven to not induce creativity, assist cognitive function, and improve overall quality of life. Whether it be going for a relaxing walk around our beautiful grounds, or simply sitting in the sunshine, taking in the sights and sounds of nature is a fail-proof way to inspire creativity. As the days get warmer, we encourage all of our residents to take full advantage of our outdoor amenities or simply enjoy the views and comfortably from inside. Be sure to use SPF, wear a hat and sunglasses, and bring lots of water if your and your loved one are enjoying a walk or spending time outdoors!
Try Your Hand(s) at Crafting
Sometimes, there is no better creative outlet than to simply just create something with your own two hands. That’s why our Life Enrichment Director includes plenty of craft opportunities in our community activity calendar. Crafts are an excellent opportunity to express any built-up creative energy. Your loved one can also surround themselves with other residents, which will foster budding friendships and inspire new ideas and creative results. Whether residents are painting, paper crafting, or creating seasonal decorations, there’s always an opportunity to create something new at our community!
Get Your Body and Mind Moving With Group Exercise
Sometimes unleashing your creativity requires getting your body moving. After all, a healthy body and mind work together! In fact, research suggests that the area of the brain responsible for creativity is particularly positively affected by exercise. At The Gardens at Brook Ridge, we offer daily opportunities for residents to move their bodies and stay physically healthy. Residents can enjoy activities like chair kickball, meditation walks, stretching, and more.
Carve Out Time for our Special Events
With various weekly special events, there is no shortage of entertainment at our community. Make sure to check our monthly calendar here for a list of all community activities and events this season. You can even peruse our calendar with your loved one, choosing the events they’ll be sure to love. We also welcome family and friends to participate with us!
We encourage all of our residents to explore many creative outlets in our Pharr memory care community. With ample indoor and outdoor amenities, along with coordinated special and recurring events each week, there is something for everyone!
Gardening is a relaxing, productive activity that can help lower stress and support our mental health. But just because the weather is getting cooler doesn't mean we have to wait until next year to enjoy gardening. Fall is the best time to plant perennial flower bulbs, which bloom year after year!
Check with your local nursery for recommendations on what to plant. There are a range of choices--daffodils, tulips, allium, and hyacinth are 4 of the hardiest perennials for all planting zones. When spring comes around, you can look for your budding flowers!
Food is a critical component of not only our health, but our overall happiness and well being. That’s why we place a large emphasis on the importance of healthy eating. The food we eat every day plays a huge role in our brain function, and that doesn’t change as we get older. In fact, it’s even more important!: ow.ly/FQ7O50KWcuY
