Ways to Celebrate The Holidays While Upholding Social Distancing And Visitor Guidelines
The 2020 holiday season is sneaking upon us, and with how 2020 has been thus far, we wouldn’t be surprised if the unprecedented times continue. With the social distancing guidelines still in place to keep us and our loved ones safe, we know that this upcoming holiday season may already be causing some added stress to your family, and we want to help alleviate it.
We hope that, even though we have had to make a lot of adjustments this year, you and your family have the best holiday season yet! Let’s dive into the list:
Utilize Video Chat Networks
Traditionally, the holidays may involve opening gifts under the tree on Christmas morning followed by a special breakfast with the family or heading over to a loved one’s home for a holiday dinner. This year, we recommend involving your older loved ones through video chat! Almost all of our cell phones and computers are equipped with video chat capabilities, and this is a great way to keep everyone involved in the holiday celebrations from the comfort and safety of our own homes. This includes an added bonus of letting the whole family be involved in all parts of the festivities, including the morning, rather than just gathering later in the day. It’s a win-win!
Wash Your Hands Often
As with any holiday season, the risk for catching a cold or virus will likely increase with more people milling about. To limit this, remember to wash your hands before, during, and after any event, as well as anytime you use the restroom, before handling food, and after touching high-contact surface areas. To properly wash your hands, you must use warm water and soap and scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Our favorite way to ensure good handwashing is to sing “Happy Birthday” while we scrub the soap on our hands to ensure proper timing.
Plan a Car Parade
You may have seen vehicle parades trending this year. Folks from the same households would pile into their individual cars and create a parade by the celebratory recipient’s home for their special birthday, holiday, or other events. The cars are sometimes decorated with fun signs, sparkly streamers, silly string, and more to really get in the spirit! This can be a fun way to include your family members in the holiday celebration. Give them a call, have them come outside, and invite several friends and family members to all drive by honking their horns, waving, and showing off their creative car decorations.
Use Snail Mail for Gifts and Cards
There is something so special about receiving packages in the mail, and that excitement does not change as you get older! Consider putting together a gift basket full of your loved one’s favorite things, and include a few heartfelt, handwritten cards and photos. Then, send the basket through the mail or drop it off outside your loved one’s home. This will surely bring a smile to their face and help them feel included in your holiday festivities, and it is a great way to keep your family members updated on your life’s recent events!

Moisture helps your skin repair itself. This comes in handy if your skin is damaged by something more serious, like the sun or an infection. A good amount of moisture in your skin also help reduce the likeliness of minor skin problems like tightness and itchiness.
