Here at Creekside Oaks Retirement Community, we have the most vibrant staff and residents ready to make this summer one to remember. Our wonderful, active 55+ community, coupled with our amazing California location, is sure to provide plenty of activities and entertainment this summer. Join An Exercise Class
One of the many things we pride ourselves on at Creekside Oaks is our abundant activities calendar, and along with that, our various exercise classes! From easy senior exercise classes, to balancing classes, lower body workouts, and even chair yoga, there is something for everyone! As it gets hotter outside, we can have you set up inside so you can still get in exercise without having to endure the heat. Consistent exercise is great for the mind and body. Just remember to hydrate before, after, and during any physical activity, and always listen to your body. Don’t do more than you can handle, and make sure to have fun while participating!
Get Your Sports Fix With Bean Bag Baseball
Another great way to stay active but also enjoy a little friendly competition is by joining bean bag baseball every Tuesday and Friday! Taking part in these games this summer is a great way to meet new people and enjoy something you may not do too often. Like many of our exercise classes, bean bag baseball is in the atrium, so don’t sweat the temperature outside (literally). You can stay cool and comfortable while still having fun with your fellow residents and friends!

While many of the activities we suggested are indoors, there is no denying that the grounds here at Creekside Oaks independent living in Folsom, CA are some of the most beautiful of any retirement community around. That is why we recommend spending some time outdoors and enjoying nature this summer. While it may be warmer, the weather in the Folsom area is beautiful year round, and in the summer wildlife is in full swing. We recommend grabbing a friend to enjoy bird watching, going for a walk, or even having a picnic or snack outside. If you do choose to get outdoors, don’t forget these essentials:
Participate in Our Walking Club
If you’re looking for other residents who are interested in getting outside regularly, we recommend joining our walking club! With consistent meetings weekly, this is a great way to stay active and spend time outdoors! Walking is great exercise, and is also a great way to catch up with other residents and friends. Summer is the perfect time to get outside early, which is why our club meets at 8:30am. This way, you get to enjoy all of the summer outdoor time, without having to worry as much about being out in the heat of the day. Our residents have access to healthy breakfasts every day of the week, but for our friends at home, one easy way to add a nutritious punch to your morning meal is by adding spinach to a simple scramble.
It is extremely easy to make for yourself or a loved one if you’re short on time in the morning. Simply heat up a nonstick pan, add your eggs, some spinach, and a little of your favorite seasoning (we love everything bagel seasoning)! Turn the eggs occasionally to cook them through, and you're ready to eat.
