One of the best ways to keep both your body and mind in their best shape is to include a bit of exercise into your daily routine. From taking a little walk around the neighborhood, or even the halls of our amazing community, to taking one of the many exercise classes offered at our Sunshine Retirement Living communities, it’s easy to schedule a little movement into your daily routine. We cater to all levels of fitness, and offer a variety of classes so our residents can try out new activities!

Neat and Clean

We all know that a clean space, regularly wiped down surfaces, and disinfected bathrooms and kitchens keep us as safe as possible from infection, but did you know that a clean space can also improve our mental health? For those prone to depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues, a clean and organized home has some surprising benefits.

Not only does it give a happiness boost – releasing endorphins – but it also may help to reduce cortisol levels and alleviate stress by introducing a sense of order and control in your home. While some may find it particularly challenging to keep up with cleaning their home, especially if dealing with mental illness or physical challenges, there are some easy solutions. Aside from bringing in regular outside help, you can also break up your cleaning into small tasks throughout the day and week instead of doing a big sweep of your space.

It’s not too late to get your flu and COVID vaccines this season. Not only are these vaccines helpful in keeping you safe from disease this winter, but they also help keep your community and vulnerable loved ones safe as well. In addition, keeping your vaccines up to date can help you to avoid hospitalization with more serious infections by boosting your immune system and helping your body stave off some of the worst side effects of disease.

Safe Environment

With winter weather bringing ice, snow, extra rain, and darker nights, it’s important to be mindful of safe outdoor practices. If it’s cold out, be sure to bundle up to avoid hypothermia, frostbite, or simply being too cold. When the weather brings ice and snow, only walk on shoveled and salted pathways to avoid slips and falls. If you still drive, consider staying in during inclement weather, especially if it is dark out and visibility is lessened even further. Simple, smart tips can really keep you safe in the winter.
